A must see stop for travelers on their way to visit Jungfrau, Lauterbrunnen is a beautiful Swiss village surrounded by waterfalls. This short hike begins as you enter Lauterbrunnen from the train station and follows the road to the Staubbach Waterfall. Short climb up the foot of the mountain and through tunnels brings you to a scenic view from behind the waterfall, looking over the Lauterbrunnen valley.

As you stand behind the cascading curtain of water you feel the mist of spray as the deafening roar of the falls never ceases. The view is awe-inspiring, with the village nestled in a crescent between the deep valley walls and the trees framing the river in the middle. Looking up you can see the towering peak of Jungfrau in the distance, standing out in the blue sky above.

Continuing onwards, the path takes you up to the Staubbach Waterfall viewpoint and the terrace below. This stop gives you an almost eagle’s eye view of the entire valley and its waterfalls descending from the mountainside. Watching the mist and water droplets from your vantage point is mesmerising. The sun continues to shine as you stand above the village, taking in the unparalleled beauty of the area.

You reluctantly make your way back down the path, taking a last look at Staubbach Waterfall and the incredible Lauterbrunnen Valley. This stop is an absolute must for visitors on their way to explore the Jungfrau region, showing the best of what Switzerland has to offer.
