Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has stressed the government has "initiated an internal inquiry" into the circumstances of Daniel Abed Khalife's escape.
Mr Sunak also pointed out when Labour was in power there were "10 times the number of escaped prisoners" compared to the the 13 years of Conservative-led government.
The search for the former soldier who fled Wandsworth prison while awaiting trial for terror and Official Secrets Act offences has entered its second day.
