When Hokage Naruto agreed to bring Kawaki into Konoha, the world of Boruto Naruto Next Generations was forever changed and it was just as Shikamaru warned Naruto. Kara ended up sending Delta to bring back Kawaki, which led to Naruto vs Delta and eventually Naruto and Sasuke vs Jigen. The battle with Isshiki Otsutsuki ended up costing Naruto the power of the nine tails and costing Sasuke the power of the rinnegan. It was a worst case scenario, leaving Kawaki as the strongest person inside of Konoha and Boruto as the second strongest, but all while the person Shikamaru was most suspicious of, Amado, now has all the leverage inside of Konoha, because he is the only person with the power to stop Kawaki if he ends up going on a rampage, as well as Ada and Daemon who have a power level over Jigen, which is strong enough to take down Code. However, given how powerful Code is and how everything Shikamaru has warned Naruto has come to pass, the battle lines for Boruto's time skip have finally been set and Shikamaru's progression to being the next Danzo has been something a lot of fans have worried about!
