The Portland Pilots men's cross country team finished second at the NCAA West Regional on Friday. Seniors Scott Fauble (29:40) led the team with a fourth-place finish.

The second place finish in the 10-kilometer race gives the men's team an automatic bid to the NCAA National Championship, which will take place on Nov. 22 in Terra Haute, Ind. Helping to qualify the team for Nationals was Woody Kincaid (9th, 29:51), Reid Buchanan (10th, 29:51), David Perry (14th, 25:54), Timo Goehler (34th, 30:13), Danny Martinez (39th, 30:18), and Alex Dillard (53rd, 30:32).
