In an unprecedented move, French police have detained former President Nicolas Sarkozy for questioning... over suspicions he used his power illegally.
He was grilled on whether he had pursued inside information from a judge related to a 2007 probe on his campaign funds... in exchange for the promise of a distinguished role in Monaco.
Investigators also called in the high-ranking judge in question... in addition to a second judge and Sarkozy's lawyer.
Sarkozy called the charges... politically-motivated. They are being seen as a significant blow to the former leader's ambitions for another presidential run in 2017.
