Here is what she says about the process in making the bag.
"I was asked a couple weeks back several times how I got suede to feel so soft after I dyed it.
And I was asked this question several times by several people at a conference about shoe care and services.
My reply was that I always brushed up the suede after dyeing it. Even after cleaning the suede I brush up the nap (it is the terms it’s called). Suede only looks so beautiful because of its rich supple texture. So after cleaning or dyeing suede I always take care to brush up the nap.
Another point that might be surprising is I tend to use softer nylon brushes. Normally suede brushes tend to be stiff, but I like to think about it like I think of my hair. If I used a stuff comb on my thick hair it would pull out a lot of my hair. Versus if I use a softer brush and start from the ends and work my way across my hair I tend to lose less hair and while it takes me a little time my hair is in better shape.
Technically a sturdy nylon suede brush is really wonderful for suede but I like to try and take my time and be gentle with a softer brush. I say this because if you use any brushes too hard or too ruff on suede you’ll end up brushing off the suede and making a permanent bald spot.
With suede it takes me longer to do cleaning or dyeing, but it’s a big payoff in the end when it looks this brilliant"
