Longtime members of the Karl Hess Club remember club co-founder Samuel Edward Konkin III (SEK3) — the discoverer and chief popularizer of Agorism and Counter-Economics — as both a sharp intellectual thinker and a jovial friend. When SEK3 died on February 23, 2004, he left behind a vast trove of letters, papers, notes, calendars, emails, and articles in obscure newsletters, magazines, and Amateur Press Associations (APAs) — yes, there were publications with even lower circulation than New Libertarian — and it is only fitting that these documents be preserved, digitized, and made available to the world via the World Wide Web. In this speech, reclusive libertarian Victor Koman, PhD — president of The Triplanetary Corporation and head honcho of KoPubCo — discusses his personal history with Konkin and describes what treasures he has found so far in his effort to Save The Agorist Archives of Samuel Edward Konkin III.
Dr. Koman (hey, if Jill Biden can use the honorific, so can he) will describe how he came into possession of the 16 boxes (at least) of papers, computer discs, audio- and video-cassettes, and Mac PowerBooks. He will also discuss the importance of preserving documents for all libertarian writers and speakers, in light of the recent deaths of such luminaries as J. Neil Schulman, Brad Linaweaver, Andrea Millen Rich, Butler Shaffer, and — just this January — Jeff Riggenbach.
The spectacular success of the GoFundMe campaign will be discussed, as people who never even knew of Sam or his invention and development of Agorism and Counter-Economics have come together with decades-long allies of SEK3 to donate thousands of dollars in amounts ranging from $5 to $7,500(!) toward Dr. Koman’s efforts. He will explain the timeline and work phases of the project, as well as the difficulties he foresees in transcribing the numerous handwritten letters and notes.
