Plumbed up long lines between the dam wall and the sailing clip at 60m+ but with a count of 9-11 I felt like the fish would be in shallower water. I started off casting short and found a count of 3 at 25m. I thought I could start here and work my way down the shelf and out if needed.
Besides a couple of Pike strikes I’ve had a brilliant few hours catching Skimmers, Perch, some big Roach and a couple of Rudd.
Simple 30g cage on a running rig, Sonubaits Thatchers straight with maggots and casters in a separate mix bowl. 2ft hooklength of 0.13 to a size 18 PR434. Ideally a 12 or even 18” hooklength might have presented better but there’s always next time.
Either double red maggot or single caster was the best baits today. Some of the bites were on the drop and mist bites came within seconds or a minute or two. Absolutely stuffed with fish and a beautiful place to be whilst catching them.
£5 a day ticket, free parking and plenty of value for money👏🏼
