Nandamuri Balakrishna is one of the most loved actors in the Telugu film industry. Popularly known as Balayya by his fans, he is now working on the NTR Biopic. He celebrates his birthday tomorrow and to mark the occasion, the makers have released a poster of the NTR Biopic. It shows the legendary NTR in various mythological roles. The film is being directed by Manikarnika director, Krish Jagarlamudi and Nandamuri Balakrishna himself. They two had collaborated before for the epic film, Gautamiputra Satakarni. The film has been in the news lately. Buzz is that actress Vidya Balan is the latest addition to the cast. She will reportedly play the role of his wife, Basavatharakam. Vidya will join the cast in Hyderabad from mid-July. “Vidya is apparently inspired by how Basavatharakam led her life, as a woman. Despite being a mother to 13 kids, she was a pillar of support to NTR, and she steered the family while he was busy juggling films and politics. All of this will be portrayed in an interesting manner in the film, and Vidya is super-excited to be a part of it.” The shoot will start in July. Earlier, filmmaker Teja was supposed to make it but he opted out due to creative differences. Nandmuri Balakrishna will be playing the role of his legendary father, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. Even K Raghavendra Rao was touted as one of the directors but finally Krish is on board.
Nandamuri Balakrishna is an Indian film actor and politician known for his works predominantly in the Telugu cinema.He is the sixth son of Telugu film actor and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. T. Rama Rao. He entered the film industry as a child artist at the age of fourteen with the film Tatamma Kala (1974).Known for his dance and acting skills, he has acted in more than hundred feature films in a variety of roles.
Balakrishna received breakthrough as an actor in 1984 through films such as Sahasame Jeevitham, the social problem film Janani Janmabhoomi, and Mangammagari Manavadu. He has thus far achieved commercial success through the 1990s in films including Apoorva Sahodarudu (1986), Muvva Gopaludu (1987), Muddula Mavayya (1989), Nari Nari Naduma Murari (1990), Lorry Driver (1990), Rowdy Inspector (1992), Aswamedham (1992), Nippu Ravva (1993), Bhairava Dweepam (1994), Peddannayya (1997), and Samarasimha Reddy (1997), all of which fetched him numerous accolades.
On the other hand, Balakrishna is known for his works in biographical films, historical films, and hagiographical films. He essayed poet Vemulawada Bheemakavi in Vemulawada Bheemakavi (1976); as Abhimanyu in Daana Veera Soora Karna (1977); as Jahangir in Akbar Salim Anarkali (1979); as Narada in Sri Tirupati Venkateswara Kalyanam (1979); as Sidda in Srimadvirat Veerabrahmendra Swami Charitra (1984) screened at the Moscow Film Festival; as Krishnadevaraya in Aditya 369 (1991), screened at the International Film Festival of India; as Satya Harischandra and Dushyanta in Brahmashri Vishwamitra (1991); as lord Krishna, and Arjuna in Shri Krishnarjuna Vijayam (1996); as Pundarika in Pandurangadu (2008); as lord Rama in Sri Rama Rajyam (2011); which received special mention at the International Film Festival of India.
In his 100th film, he essayed Gautamiputra Satakarni, 2nd century ruler of the Satavahana Empire in the epic war film Gautamiputra Satakarni (2017). The film was subsequently dubbed into Hindi and Tamil languages.[8] The film is screened at the first "Edinburgh Festival of Indian Films and Documentaries".[9] Balakrishna has received three state Nandi Awards for Best Actor for his works in Narasimha Naidu (2001), Simha (2010), and Legend (2014). In 2014, he received the South Indian International Movie Award for best actor for his work in Legend. Balakrishna was the chief guest for the 43rd International Film Festival of India.Balakrishna is the Chairman of Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research.[13] He is an elected member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly for the Hindupur.
