On September 6, 2017 my home, the British Virgin Islands, took a direct devastating hit from a category 5 hurricane affectionately called Irma. After zero outside communication with the islands for several days we finally made contact. We are thankful to our friends (the unofficial Puerto Rican Navy), Convoy of Hope and many others for rushing to our aid. A few days later hurricanes Jose and Maria ripped through again causing massive damage to Dominica, Puerto Rico and the USVI.

The BVI Beyond Irma series seeks to chronicle our recovery journey from the perspective of people on the ground and those with deep connections to the islands. The stories you may not hear on mainstream media. This footage is from my first visit home post-Irma in November 2017, with some more recent updates sprinkled in the mix.

Thanks to all the people/groups working hard to share the BVI and Puerto Rico story. Together we can help our islands rebuild and improve.
