Water of this dam will be used first to irrigate land bringing prosperity in the life of local residents and then produce one megawatt electricity,” Mr Zubair told the Munchora dam inauguration ceremony.

He said the right and left bank canals would be sunk to irrigate agricultural land in parts of Oghi tehsil.

“This project will be completed at the estimated cost of Rs2 billion,” he said.

In response to question asked by local village council nazims including Mian Ghulam Mohammad, Anwarul Islam and Shaukat Hayat, Mr Zubair said owners of the houses to be submerged by the dam water would be paid for built-up property’s prices along with trees and other goods.

He said the local residents would be appointed to the dam project.
