Malta is well-known as a popular tourist destination, but our experience visiting a shopping mall on the island left us quite surprised. We came across several familiar stores that also exist in the UK, yet what stood out was how significantly higher the prices were in Malta compared to England. This was evident in almost everything—clothing, food, and drinks.
It’s somewhat ironic because flights to Malta are typically very affordable, and hotel prices are quite reasonable, but the overall cost of living, at least in terms of shopping and leisure, is noticeably more expensive. This creates an interesting contrast to the initial impression of Malta as a budget-friendly travel option.
