Reacting to Home Minister Amit Shah’s speech in Rajya Sabha during the Constitution debate the previous day, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi on December 18 said "The Shariat Application Act, this Muslim Personal Law is for civil matters. Amit Shah should tell the country that the state from where he comes, Gujarat, has the Disturbed Areas Act. A Hindu cannot sell his house to a Muslim, a Muslim cannot sell his house to a Hindu and this has been going on for years. Wherever BJP is in power, you have made laws against conversion whereas the Right to Choice is a fundamental right in the Constitution. Who are you to stop someone, if someone is converting religion?...Wherever BJP is in power, it is working against the Constitution. In Goa, where BJP is in power, the law is that if there is a Hindu woman between the age of 25 and 30 years and if she does not give birth to a son between this age, then her husband has the right to marry again. Get that law removed. You are giving police powers to cow protectors in Haryana, they can catch and kill people, is this in the Constitution?..."
