*Important Clarification about Zakat Al-Fitra*
Al-Ayn Social Care Foundation is authorized by Al-Sayyed Al-Sistani to receive Zakat Al-Fitra, to be spent on orphaned children in Iraq. Either by placing it directly in Al-Ayn's Sadaqa Boxes or by paying electronically whilst authorizing Al-Ayn to make the payment of Zakat Al-Fitra on your behalf.
Zakat Al-Fitra needs to reach the hands of the person in need, or their guardian, before noon on the day of Eid, or before Eid Salah if one prays it. As Al-Ayn receives funds with permission of the religious authority (marja'a), who has authority over the needy and orphaned children, then this meaning is achieved as soon as the money is placed in Al-Ayn's Sadaqa boxes or paid to Al-Ayn, and the person would have fulfilled their religious obligation.
Furthermore, as Al-Ayn receives funds with the permission of the marja'a, it is permissible to pay Zakat Al-Fitra to Al-Ayn even in the presence of needy people in the same country. Indeed, Al-Sayyed Al-Sistani has specifically giving permission for people outside of Iraq to pay Zakat Al-Fitra to Al-Ayn, to be spent on orphaned children in Iraq.
Please note that Zakat Al-Fitra in the USA is $11 per person, with the intention when paying that it is instead of rice. ($10 for cash & Zelle due to no fees).
