Finally: US to supply Australia with JASSM long range missiles
Lockheed Martin, a leading aerospace and defense company, has been awarded a contract by the United States Air Force (USAF) GREEN to supply AGM-158B-2 JASSM (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile) and associated equipment to Australia. The contract, valued at up to $751 million, was announced on May 18, 2023.
The JASSM-ER missiles, which have been utilized by the USAF since 2014, possess a range of 935 kilometers and are specifically designed to target high-value objectives.
These missiles can be launched from either the Royal Australian Air Force's Boeing F-35 Lightning II or Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet fighters.
Apart from missile production, Lockheed Martin will also be responsible for various other services, including personnel training, technical documentation, engineering, transportation, repair, and technical support. The contract is projected to be completed by 2027.
