STORYLINE:
Russia's President Vladimir Putin met with his Armenian counterpart, Serge Sarkisian, in Moscow on Tuesday.
It was Sarkisian's first meeting with the Russian leader since winning his second term in last month's Armenian election.
Putin, whose powerful country has close ties with Armenia, congratulated Sarkisian on his victory, saying it was a "very good result" and "proof of the confidence of the nation."
"This give you the possibility to provide all the pre-election promises," said Putin.
During the meeting, both presidents emphasised the special relationship between Russia and Armenia.
"It's clear, that my first foreign visit is a visit to Moscow. Russia is our strategic partner and ally. That explains it all," Sarkisian told Putin.
The two countries have investment plans on the horizon.
Russia, traditionally Armenia's most significant foreign investor, is planning on further projects that will likely help to boost the republic's economy.
