Two coastal world war 2 Chain Home radar bunkers have been converted into luxury seaside holiday homes.
The two part buried concrete bunkers have been brought to life again and provide great coastal views of the English Channel.
Once they were front line aircraft tracking stations designed to warn the RAF of incoming Nazi planes.
These were located at Ringstead Bay, Dorset at what was once RAF Ringstead.
The reinforced control bunkers have undergone a massive change since they were built back in 1940 and now provide stunning views of the cliffs, beaches and the world famous Jurassic Coast.
The owner said : “The Standby Generator Bunker was part of RAF Ringstead and its conversion to holiday accommodation follows on from the great success of the Transmitter Bunker which has proved very popular with visitors.
“RAF Ringstead was part of Chain Home radar which extended from Cornwall in the West to Suffolk in the East.
“Built in a great hurry at the beginning of WW2, and which Winston Churchill called Chain Home Radar his “wizard war” and it was pivotal to the successful air defence of this country.”
RAF Ringstead was a former Royal Air Force radar station. During its life it was notable as having served three distinct separate functions: Firstly as a WWII Chain Home radar station.
Secondly during the Cold War, as a more advanced Rotor Station and then, finally, as a USAF Tropospheric Scatter communication station.
