A quick guide on copying rhythm from samples similar to other DAWs that can convert audio to midi. Changing the samples of an existing beat can be an interesting and quick way to inspire your music. It isn't difficult to copy the beat itself but there isn't an immediately clear way to collect these rhythms in one instrument for saving/auditioning/experimenting/remixing.
Written guide:
1. slice samples at transients you want to copy. the more slices, the higher the resolution the beat will be.
2. render slices to phrase
3. destructively render to change the samples to your own
TAKE IT FURTHER by building a stolen rhythm instrument:
phrase mate:
1. write phrase to pattern
2. Set source instrument phrase from pattern to off
3. write pattern to phrase in destination instrument
phrase importer:
1. make dummy phrase in destination instrument to receive source phrase
2. import phrases
