(10 Mar 2021) Dozens of Indonesian labour activists angered over the military coup in Myanmar protested Wednesday outside the Myanmar Embassy in the Indonesian capital.
About 50 protesters in Jakarta, organized by Indonesia Trade Union Confederation or KSBSI, called on the leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) member countries to take a firm stance against the February 1 military coup in Myanmar.
Protesters also demanded the Indonesian government be proactive in pressuring the Myanmar military junta to respect democracy and human rights and to stop the violence and the arrests of pro-democracy activists in the country.
