If you are wondering about the difference between Chinese and Japanese acupuncture, here I explain the reasons why they are different. This is a basic overview, as both styles have many separate schools and lineages. Of note, I went on a study trip to Japan AFTER filming this where I learned the following: It has long been a tradition in Japan for the government to pay for the blind to pursue massage or acupuncture training, after which they are then expected to make a living on their own. As a result, many of the acupuncture masters in Japan are blind. In fact, even though Japan practically eliminated traditional medicine after losing WWII - due to low esteem and surrendering to Western ways - it was the blind community, luckily, that preserved the tradition. And thanks to their dedication, it is now starting to make a come-back.
