이란서 한국 문화 주간 개최
Marking President Park Geun Hye's first visit to Iran,... a series of events celebrating Korean culture is scheduled to start on Monday.

There's excitement in the air as a Korean wave is set to take hold of the city of Tehran.
In anticipation of President Park's visit, the Korean Ministry of Culture is holding a variety of events from art exhibitions to special showcases in the Iranian capital over the next week, starting on Monday.

Kicking off the program is Taekwondo, the already popular Korean traditional martial art, with over 35-hundred training halls throughout the nation.
A demonstration performance will take place at the Milad Tower concert hall.

The Iranian public are no strangers when it comes to Korean dramas.
With the notable success of the drama series "Dae Jang Geum" also known as "Jewel in the Palace," which reached more 80 percent in national viewership when it aired there back in 2006,... traditional Korean food, clothing and even herbal medicine became widely known.

"Korea and Iran have suffered from invasions by foreign countries. Both countries share a similar national character in that sense. Korean drama series such as 'Dae Jang Geum' and 'Jumong' reflect that."

That's why a "K-Culture exhibition," which offers taste-testing of Korean traditional delicacies and education about herbal medicines are also part of the program.
And for adoring fans of Korean dramas... there will be a special showing of current drama series at the cinema hall, Milad Tower as well.

Another highly anticipated event is the monochrome illustration and moon pot exhibition, put together to demonstrate the history and background of modern Korean art.
This exhibition is slated to run until the 29th of this month.

With all the festivities that are planned, the culture ministry is looking forward and gearing up fo more frequent and lively cultural exchanges between two countries in the future.
