The Tactical Angler Bomb Popper has been deadly on all sorts of different species here in Costa Rica. From roosterfish to jack crevalles, cubera snappers to sierra mackerels, this lure works on just about any predatory fish.
In this clip I am fishing with my good friend Henry, who was born and lives full time in Costa Rica. We took Henry's ATV down the beach to a small inlet where jacks and roosters often gather.
On my 10th cast I got slammed by a solid "mystery" fish which would end up being a solid jack crevalle. Jacks are the most common fish species I catch from shore in Costa Rica. They pull hard, fight strong, and can grow to be larger than 20 pounds.
On another note....In this video it looks calm, but shortly after I released this fish I got slammed by a huge wave and got sand embedded in my left ear, in which it remained for the next 4 weeks! Seriously be careful when surf fishing - this giant wave came out of nowhere and demolished me.
