In accordance with the Priority Theme for the 66th session of CSW i.e. “Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes”, this side event took stock of and analysed the gendered impacts of the climate crisis – in Asia and the Pacific, Africa, and Latin America; and discussed ways in which current policies and programmes can be better aligned with international human rights standards and commitments, including the Paris Agreement and CEDAW Committee’s General Recommendation No. 35.
This side event was co-organised by the Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) and UN Women with speakers from: Climate Watch Thailand, Fiji Women’s Rights Movement (FWRM), the African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET) and the Governments of Mexico and Sweden.
