The United States and Israel are preparing for retaliation from Iran after tensions remain high following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran Wednesday.
According to the Pentagon, The U.S. will deploy "more defensive military capabilities" to the Middle East to help defend Israel.
The deployment comes after threats from Iran and Iranian-backed militias, said Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh.
"Following the Hamas attacks on Israel in October 2023, the United States pledged to help defend the nation. In April, when Iran and Iranian-backed groups launched strikes at Israel, the United States led a coalition that helped defend the country from armed drones and missiles," shared the U.S. Department of Defense in a release Friday.
