This video walks you through how to make a wooden whistle using a scroll saw or coping saw and a few scraps of wood. It is a good project for beginning woodworkers or a great project to do with a young child. The whistle can be made in about an hour out of almost any kind of wood. The two whistles that I have made with these plans are made from maple and paduck. These whistles make great gifts for young kids and are also a great item to sell at flea markets and craft shows. Well they are SUPER loud so you might want to give them to someone else's kid and not your own :) While I use several tools in making these whistles, they can be made with only a scroll saw or coping saw and some sandpaper and wood glue. I made this out of two different types of wood but could not tell if there was any difference in sound between the two. You can also drill a hole in the end so that putting your finger over the hole will cause the tone to change slightly.
