Beitai steelworks is 14km SW of Benxi which is in turn 84km SE on Shenyang in Liaoning province.
The video opens with a PW gang assisted by a a steam crane relaying track. The main duty for the SYs at the steelworks is to propel cauldrons of molten slag from the blast furnaces to the tipping area and transferring molten iron to the foundry and rolling mill a short distance away. The two types of cauldron are differentiated by the slag variety have a tipping mechanism. There are frequent loco movements throughout the day and night. The blast furnace area was very noisy and dusty and even on a sunny day some areas appear quite gloomy.
