here's a twofer. first up, a cover of David Bowie's classic song "Space Oddity" from the 1977 concept album "Dune" by David Matthews (based, of course, on the Frank Herbert novel). Mark Egan is on bass, and i believe he plays fretless, that's why his slides sound so slide-y -- a great line on any bass.

hip-hop fans will recognize the "floating in a tin can" sections as the source of the sample used by the late great MF DOOM in his song "Rapp Snitch Knishes," from his 2004 masterpiece "MM..FOOD" (i use the instrumental beat here, known as "Coffin Nails")

i thought it'd be fun to include both songs side by side, enjoy!
