The fallout between outgoing Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta, and his deputy, President-elect, William Ruto, played out in public yesterday after the Supreme Court upheld Ruto's victory in the presidential race. Ruto beat former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, who enjoyed Kenyatta's support.
Kenyatta has now pledged to ensure a smooth handover of power to Ruto but failed to congratulate him, nor mention his name in his six-minute speech. This is the first time Kenyatta has publicly spoken since the poll.
