Riding on cobbles is not simple or easy. It can be brutal on your body and bike.

Ex-Professional cyclists Simon Richardson and Matt Stephens look at ways on improving your comfort for the demand of riding over the rough stuff!
Let us know your bike setup tips for cobblestones.
Tyres - These are your contact point to the road, essentially you want to go as big as what will fit in your frame/under the brakes. Bigger tyres can be run at a lower pressure allowing you to ride smoother over the cobblestones. The professionals normally use 27-30mm wide tubular tyres with a low pressure to help soften out the impact of riding over the cobbles.
Handlebar Tape - Double wrapping handlebar tape is nice and easy and can make a noticeable difference. Simply go over the top of your existing handlebar tape and you are sorted.
Bottle Cages - Often overlooked, but they play a vital role when it comes to riding over rough terrain, especially cobblestones. The pro's often use griptape or some other little bodges including aluminium cages that they bend into place.
Chain Catcher - You don't want your chain to come off when putting on the pressure. A chain catcher installs really easily and will prevent the chain from getting jammed in-between the inner chainring and the bottom bracket shell.
Bolts - Ensure that your bolts are all torqued to the correct specification and use special carbon "grease" where applicable.
Brakes - Some riders like to add top mounted brake levers on to the drop handlebars incase of emergency braking in a mass participation event. Or maybe just for some increased control.
