Looking for a tasty and nutritious seed mix recipe for your cockatiel or other small parrot species? In this video, we show you how to make a homemade seed mix that's perfect for cockatiels, lovebirds, budgies, conures, parrotlets, quakers, and other small parrots.

The recipe includes:
1 cup of oats
1/4 cup of husked oats
1/2 cup of brown flaxseeds
1/2 cup of white flaxseeds
1 tablespoon of radish seeds
1 tablespoon of hemp seeds
1 tablespoon of niger seeds
1 tablespoon of rapeseed
1/2 tablespoon of milk thistle
1/2 tablespoon of chicory
1/2 tablespoon of canary seed
1 cup of flower mix (optional)

Sunflower seeds and millet are not included in this mix as they should be given as occasional treats due to their high fat content.

For a 500 gram batch, use 78g of oats, 20g of husked oats, 39g of brown flaxseeds, 39g of white flaxseeds, 4.5g of radish seeds, 4.5g of hemp seeds, 4.5g of niger seeds, 4.5g of rapeseed, 2.25g of milk thistle, 2.25g of chicory, 2.25g of canary seed, and 118g of flower mix (optional).

For a 1 kilogram batch, use 156g of oats, 39g of husked oats, 78g of brown flaxseeds, 78g of white flaxseeds, 9g of radish seeds, 9g of hemp seeds, 9g of niger seeds, 9g of rapeseed, 4.5g of milk thistle, 4.5g of chicory, 4.5g of canary seed, and 236g of flower mix (optional).
