This is an excerpt from a rehearsal filmed in 1968 in which Leopold Stokowski, then nearly 86 years old, conducted Beethoven's Overture 'Leonore' No. 3. The location was the new Madison Square Gardens concert hall in New York and the orchestra was the American Symphony, founded by Stokowski himself in 1962. (This particular extract come from a 1970 TV documentary entitled "Stokowski at 88" which accounts for the narration and end credits.) Also on the 1968 concert programme was Barber's 'Adagio for Strings,' the rehearsal of which has also been uploaded here.
