Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says Opposition Leader Peter Dutton intends to announce his shadow cabinet later in the week after a reshuffle.
“But I think this is dependent on whether Amanda Stoker and Greg Mirabella get up in the Senate with counts going on,” he said.
“This, in turn, could affect how many Nationals and Liberals are in the shadow cabinet. So, I'm not expecting an announcement tomorrow."
Mr Clennell revealed Nationals Senator Matt Canavan will not return on this frontbench, along with an unconfirmed tip Angus Taylor could be shadow treasurer.
He said Mr Dutton laid the “groundwork for opposition attacks to come”, after he discussed electricity and fuel prices in his first press conference this week.
“They’ve got something to work with now when parliament starts in a couple of months’ time.”
