Gill nets are ILLEGAL in Namibia. They are so destructive and deathly that even a country reliant on fishing has banned them. They entrap every animal they encounter; no soul can escape. Our seals cover quite a bit of ground daily, but the existence of gill net entanglements at Pelican Point suggests illegal fishing activity in the area. Is it not enough for our marine life to deal with the consequences of legal fishing, including "regular' fishing nets, fishing hooks, packing straps and fishing lines? 🦭
