ow much do the US’ most secretive Special Forces members get paid?
The CIA’s paramilitary operations officers are often taken from tier one units such as devgru or delta and are often thought to be the most highly trained and skilled Special Forces members in the US.
Once they transition over to the CIA they are no longer part of the military's pay scale.
They instead migrate over to GS Pay. If you get in you’ll have to sign a 5 year contract to ensure the extra 24 months of training they’ll give you isn’t wasted.
Your pay will start off anywhere from GS 10 -12, which, including locality pay adjustments will works out at $73,916 - $122,459 a year.
This works out at a little more than an E-9s base pay which ranges from $72,672 to $112,824. However, you don’t get BAH, BAS, Jump pay etc in the CIA.
Nevertheless, you may get a signing bonus of 25% of your base pay as well as a $35,000 starting bonus plus $75-$400 bi weekly if you speak a foreign language.
This may sound like a lot of money but Considering all FBI HRT members are at GS14-15 ranging from $99,907-$152,771 base pay, I can’t help but feel our blue badgers are slightly underpaid.
With this said, you could work your way up the CIA Ladder and reach a supervisory position on this same pay but you likely aren’t a PMOO anymore once at this pay level.
