Launch of the Global Strategy for Cervical Cancer Elimination.
Cervical cancer is a preventable and treatable disease, and with the right strategies in place, we can make tremendous progress towards eradicating it from our community.
Our comprehensive plan includes:
1️ Increasing the coverage of HPV vaccinations by up to 90% for girls aged between 9 and 15 years can offer them protection against the virus that causes most cases of cervical cancer. Vaccinations are also available for older girls and women aged between 16 and 45 years.
2. The intention is to screen 70% of women ages 21 to 65 regularly and provide follow-up care for women of all ages to detect precancerous changes early and ensure timely treatment.
3️ At least 90% of those with precancerous or cancerous lesions identified through screening must receive treatment.
4. Raise awareness and education about cervical cancer prevention and the importance of regular screenings.
5. Strengthening our healthcare infrastructure to ensure that all women have access to high-quality cervical cancer prevention and treatment services.
Together, we can make a difference and save lives. Let's unite in the fight against cervical cancer and work towards a future where no woman in Guyana has to suffer from this preventable disease. 💪 #CervicalCancerFreeGuyana #HealthcareForAll #PreventionIsKey #Guyana
