This video shows how I go about prepping my custom MDF Wood molds to get them ready to make a new fiberglass part. This is Part II of a video I posted earlier (link below) as a follow-up to actually building the molds.
Most people would not use an MDF mold to make many duplicate parts, but, by using Epoxy to seal the MDF wood it makes a very nice durable surface to keep using the mold over and over again. You can use GelCoat to surface a mold or even a polyester primer, however, they do not adhere as well to the MDF and after a couple parts, the Gelcoat or the primer would likely start to lift off of the MDF.
