Sky News' science and technology editor Tom Clarke said that while this summer's weather disasters are the results of living with 1C of global warming, the planet will reach 2C within 30 years if "emissions aren't radically cut to zero in the coming decades".
"It is a very sobering thought and raises questions about what that new normal looks like and what that means for all of us."
If the global average temperature rises to 2C above pre-industrial levels, heatwaves will occur every two to five years, the scientists at WWA said.
