Rome is Italy’s most populated city and the third most populous city in the European Union. The name Roma came from the city's founder and first king, Romulus. Rome is the third in the ranking of popular tourist destinations in Europe and one of the most popular tourist cities in the world. The Colosseum and the Vatican, probably some of the most famous tourist attractions not only in Italy but also in the World, are visited by more than 4 million people annually. The large number of unique archaeological monuments and culture art treasures, museums, beautiful parks and the wonderful atmosphere of the city make the tourists visiting Rome wishing to return here, in the “Eternal City”.

The city is adorned with beautiful lights, festive decorations and presepi (nativity scenes) which can be found in churches and public squares. The streets of Rome, especially Via del Corso and Piazza Venezia, are beautifully illuminated with Christmas lights. If you visit Rome in the Christmas time, you should put your comfortable shoes and wander around the area with the Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, via del Corso, via dei Coronari and Trastevere. The large Christmas tree stands in front of Vittoriano in Piazza Venezia. Rome truly comes alive with the spirit of Christmas, blending its rich history with festive atmosphere.
The Trevi Fountain is an architectural work of art, built between 1732 and 1762 in the Trevi district of Rome, Italy. The fountain is the largest fountain in the city and probably the most famous fountains in the world. The magnificent Baroque style fountain was designed by Italian architect Nicola Salvi and completed by Giuseppe Pannini 30 years after.
Piazza Navona is one of the most beautiful and famous squares in Rome, known all over the world for its splendid Baroque masterpieces created by the great artists of the time: Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Francesco Borromini. Piazza Navona is a large, historical square in the centre of Rome, Italy, built on the site of the Stadium of Domitian. It is a significant example of Baroque Roman architecture with the famous Fountain of the Four Rivers (Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi) designed in 1651 by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the Obelisk of Domitian, brought in pieces from the Circus of Maxentius and the church of Sant'Agnese in Agone. Piazza Navona has two more fountains: Fontana del Moro with a basin and four Tritons sculpted by Giacomo della Porta (1575) to which, in 1673, Bernini added a statue of a Moor, wrestling with a dolphin at the southern end and the Fountain of Neptune also created by Giacomo della Porta in 1574 at the northern end.
The Baroque church facing onto the Piazza Navona, is the Church of Sant'Agnese in Agone, also called Sant'Agnese in Piazza Navona.
The Colosseum (Colosseo) is an elliptical amphitheatre from the ancient Rome, located in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy, just east of the Roman Forum. With its189 meters long, 156 meters wide and 50 meters tall, the Colosseum is the largest ancient amphitheatre ever built. Constructed mainly of sand and concrete, the Colosseum is over 1,900 years old, its construction being completed in the year 80 AD, and it is still the largest standing amphitheatre in the world, despite its age. Considered one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, the Colosseum is one of the major tourist attractions of Rome and a source of tourism revenue for the Italian government.
