Most people think installing their own blinds is hard. Following the simple, step-by-step instructions in this video though makes hanging your custom wood blinds easy to do yourself! Just screw the brackets in, slide the headrail into place, close the hinges on the brackets, and attach the wand and valance and you’re done!
Here’s how you do it:
1. From the top-left corner of the window, measure up and mark at least 2” on the mounting surface. Repeat this from the top-right corner. If you have any center support brackets, make evenly spaced marks for them between your outer marks.
2. Determine how much wider your blind is than your window. (Our window width was 2” less than our blind width). Divide this number by 2, and then measure and mark this distance to the left of the left mark, and to the right of the right mark.
3. Center the top edge of the bracket over your left mark, and mark for the screw holes with your pencil. Repeat this with your other bracket on the right mark.
4. Predrill the holes using the 5/64” drill bit and screw the brackets into place.
5. Slide the headrail into the brackets and close the hinged front pieces
6. Attach the wand by pushing the hook sleeve up – that’s the little plastic piece on the tilt mechanism. Then hook the wand onto the exposed loop and slide the hook sleeve over the connection so that the wand can’t slip off.
7. Attach the magnetic valance by positioning the valance where you want it over the headrail and letting the magnets do their job. Just make sure that you don’t attach the valance too low or it could interfere with using the wand.
8. Congratulations! You just installed your own wood blinds! Wasn’t that easy?
