The Scribblarium was designed as a quiet retreat for the owner, a writer. Encompassed on three sides by steel and glass doors with organically patterned, laser cut screens, the layers open to create an indoor-outdoor environment, with upper windows enhancing the sense of expansiveness. Organic materials, such as the cedar ceiling, stone floor and walls, and reclaimed oak cabinetry bring warmth to the contemporary space and are contrasted by the glass, dark charcoal-colored steel. Two columns of bookcases hide the half-bath and kitchenette area.
