For me, I packed down some sand beneath the rubber matting and then I "went to town" laying out the conveyor belt, creating a surface beneath my feet. If you look around, you may be able to find some commercial business that is getting rid of their conveyor belts at a good price. Just be prepared with a solid truck and trailer as this stuff is really really heavy. Just ask my tailgate how it feels about this (it got bent). Another great thing about this conveyor belt is how well it acts as a non-slip surface. Great traction in all conditions.
