Multi-instrumentalist Nathan Lanier is a composer for film, television, and games who is known for his signature cinematic dance music on projects including So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing With The Stars, the High Strung Dance franchise, and his Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, among other projects. He is currently scoring Apple’s new mystery/drama series from Jon M. Chu and Dana Fox, Home Before Dark.
Lanier has scored over 20 feature films, including, Justin Bieber’s Believe, Jem & The Holograms, Max Steel, and High Strung and High Strung: Free Dance which will be in theaters Oct 11, 2019. In addition to the film’s score, Free Dance features new original songs and multiple dance performance pieces by Lanier.
His music has also been featured on Live To Dance, Conan, Ellen, Glee Live Tour, So You Think You Can Dance Live Tour, ISU World Figure Skating Championships, the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, and 2017 Carnival On Ice. In addition, he has written music for brands including Microsoft, American Express, T-Mobile, LG, McDonalds, Ducati, the LA Clippers, and Korean Air.
Lanier holds a Master of Arts Degree in Composition and Film Scoring from NYU and a Bachelor of Music Degree in Violin Performance from Mannes College of Music in New York. In addition to composing, producing and conducting, Lanier is also proficient in viola, piano, and guitar. He has performed with Kanye West, Stevie Wonder, John Williams, Josh Groban, Michael Bublé, and on such shows as Dancing With The Stars and The Tonight Show.
