As Zimbabwe commemorates 40 years of independence - there are mixed feelings of fear and joy amongst citizens. In 1980 - Zimbabwe formally overcame British Colonial rule denouncing the name Rhodesia and becoming a new African state. For the first time - there was no major public events to mark the anniversary due to the national lockdown currently in place to curb limit the COVID-19 outbreak.
