A world away from the hustle and bustle of the cities, the members of the Queensland Police Stock and Rural Crime Investigation Squad of Rockhampton have policing jobs like no other.

There isn't necessarily a large population in their area- of people, that is. But there is a large population of cattle. And where there is cattle, there is cattle theft. That's where the Stock Squad officers come in.

When first formed, the Stock Squad had a single focus of tracking down cattle thieves. These days, SARCIS investigate a large range of rural crime from equipment theft to illegal hunting, providing professional policing services to all rural and remote Queenslanders.
