CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The funeral Mass for Archbishop Daniel Pilarczyk will be held Friday, March 27 at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral. The service will be private due to coronavirus.
People can see the service online and on social media when it begins at 11 a.m. Archbishop Dennis Schnurr will be the celebrant.
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati says a memorial Mass will be held at a later date for the public.
Archbishop Pilarczyk was born in Dayton. He resigned on Dec. 21, 2009, the day after the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood. At the time he was the country’s longest-tenured archbishop and the longest-serving active bishop, according to the Archdiocese. He continued to administer the sacraments in his retirement.
Archbishop Pilarczyk was 85 when he passed away on March 22.
