Okay, we back in the Bronx. We are updating a story that takes place in university heights. The United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, the Commissioner of the New York City Police Department, and Acting Special Agent-in-Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in New York, announced the unsealing of a fifteen-count indictment charging ten individuals, with racketeering conspiracy, murder, attempted murder, firearms offenses, and narcotics conspiracy. The defendants are charged for their roles in the Shooting Boys gang and an associated narcotics conspiracy. In a coordinated operation, eight defendants were arrested in New York and Pennsylvania on march 31st, 2022. the U.S. Attorney had this to say. As alleged, the ‘Shooting Boys’ are responsible for a rampage of violence in the Bronx, including a murder and several other shootings. these arrests will protect the public from these defendants and send a message to others who would commit violence: law enforcement is watching and you will be prosecuted. The Shooting Boys gang is a criminal organization based in the University Heights section of the Bronx. As for the shooting boys, they sold drugs, used guns, and committed numerous acts of violence against members of rival gangs. one murder was that of jay la sombro, a rapper and member of the trinitarios. They are among other neighborhoods warring with each other in the 46 and 52nd precinct. The 52nd precinct covers blocks like Kingsbridge and 194th Street, the Valentine Avenue block between 194th and 196th Streets, Morris Avenue between Kingsbridge Road and 196th Street, and Father Zeiser Place between Webb Avenue and University Avenue. There’s been other blocks in the area that have significant issues, but those are the blocks with the highest gun violence combined with community complaints, quality of life issues, including, double parked cars, smoking marijuana, loud music, selling drugs, homelessness, trespassing, noise, noise, and more noise. This area would be categorized as kingbridge heights, which have a heavy presence of trinitario’s and drilly gang members. There are some crips around as well. University heights Is in the vicinity of the 46 precinct and where the shooting boys are based. Many members of the shooting boys originate from the area of 184th and creston and are or affiliate with C.F., which stands for creston family. From a general stand point, There is a lot going on in this area, as 2 teens have been killed recently, including M Dot EBK. As for the shooting boys specifically, The crew sold crack, cocaine, heroin, and marijuana primarily in two areas: near 192nd Street and Aqueduct Avenue, and 1 5 5 Father Zeiser Place in the Bronx. These areas surround devoe park and is basically dead smack in the middle of kingbridge heights and university heights. As for the shooting boys though, Only members of the Shooting Boys and those authorized by them were permitted to sell drugs in these locations and the gang protected its drug territory through violence and intimidation relying primarily on the use of firearms. In addition to multiple non-fatal acts of violence against rival gang members and innocent bystanders, the rivalry between the Shooting Boys and other chapters of the Trinitarios led to murder. Originally associated with the Trinitarios gang, the Shooting Boys broke off from the Sunset chapter of the Trinitarios in about 2018.
