Recent Twitch Timeline
In 2007, Justin.tv is launched by founders Justin Kan, Emmett Shear, Michael Seibel and Kyle Vogt. Jacob Woodsey is hired soon after in April as UI Designer (and is currently VP of Product Design). In 2008, Kevin Lin joins Justin.tv as COO
In 2011, Emmett Shear, an avid StarCraft II player and spectator, notices broadcasters are streaming a lot of video game content on JTV. This inspires the company to spin gaming content off into its own division called Twitch of which Emmett becomes the CEO/founder. Twitch also provides its broadcasters with tools specific for video game streaming. Kevin Lin initiates wrangling interest from larger partners (gaming companies, leagues, etc.), building out the partnership team and assisting with researching what streamers want, while Jacob Woodsey works closely with engineering to execute the launch on the design front.
