Let's talk about how we can take the concept of automation to the domain of high availability and better observability.
The problem we're solving here is that if you're running Istio and Envoy at scale, you'll find that configuring all the Istiods and Envoy instances to achieve this is actually pretty complicated. It's especially true if you have many Kubernetes clusters, and you want to maintain good segmentation for security reasons, there's simply too much configuration to do manually.
To make this work at scale, we really need to be able to take high level rules and automate the configuration of the underlying infrastructure to provide failover. So, in this release we've automated failover across Kubernetes cluster instances with a service mesh now, achieving High availability rate, HA in one simple command line change and Tetrate Service Bridge will automatically take care of the configurations underneath.
