Showering the Alagar deity is a traditional custom practice followed by the devotees of Kallalagar. This is too cool the God who comes from the Alagar hills 25 kms far away from the city. The month of Chitrai (Mid April-Mid May) is too hot and no one can come outside. And thi sthe reason behind the showering festival took place.
