Did you know that Athearn, Bachmann and other locomotive manufacturers have locomotives available with SoundTraxx decoders factory equipped" This means you don't have to worry about installing a decoder to access all of the features that SoundTraxx decoder have to offer. That's right these are not simplified or 'dumbed down' decoders. If a model says it is equipped with a Tsunami2 or an Econami decoder, you are getting the full featured version of that decoder.

Now these decoders are not 100% the same as aftermarket Tsunami2 and Econami decoders. While they have all of the same features, the locomotive manufacturer can opt to change the default CV settings to better match the model or fit in with the other models in their product line. Most notably, Athearn changes the function mapping on all of their factory install decoders to be consistent across their locomotives.
